Diverse Borneo Family

The Top Ten English Teachers of Kota Kinabalu district have successfully completed their PADI Open Water Diver Course with Diverse Borneo last weekend. The group led by Mr. Dan Kirk of Southampton joined Diverse Borneo's three day scuba diving course at TARP bubbling their way down to depths of 18 meters. Like PADI says on module five (5), Meet People, Go Places and Do Things is exactly what happened with their PADI instructors OWSI#Halid Linggi and MI#Ian Edwards gladly facilitating their learning throughout the sun-blessed three days.. They were accompanied by their colleague, Ms. Anna of Australia who was enjoying nine (9) fun dives in TARP and Mr. Rizamry of Sarawak connected for his PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course. We had some excellent scores on their quizzes and final exams which was expected, with the average score at 98%. Congratulations to Rajeev for passing with 100%. The Diverse Borneo team says "WELL DONE" and hope you en...

Singapore Divers

Diverse Borneo Family

The long awaited blog for our sporty Singapore diving gang as we have only just received their photo from Mr. Raymond (the head of the group). They joined us in early December 2010 with Ancel and Bryce taking part in the PADI Open Water Diver Course. The rest of the gang enjoyed Fun Diving and Snorkeling in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park. The ladies enjoyed shopping around Kota Kinabalu. Diving isn't necessarily an individual or group activity, but also a family affair. We at Diverse Borneo felt privileged in helping the parents introduce diving to their kids at such a young age and moreover, the joy on their faces as they discovered a whole new world underwater. They will be back later this year to enjoy some Sipadan Diving, and hopefully we will get to introduce diving to the families youngest as well! Best wishes with your Triathlons guys!! Some highlights of diving around Mabul Island. [image]204[/ima...

Divemasters Most Wanted

Diverse Borneo Family

Diverse Borneo's PADI Divemaster Graduation party for the 'Most Wanted' divemasters in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The trip started some months ago with emails flying from Sweden, Australia and Malaysia agreeing a time frame to become a PADI Divemaster. Brit of Australia was to arrive first, but with an expired passport didn't make it out of Sydney airport. Matt of Sweden was taught here almost three years ago by PADI instructor Russ Cheetham who is now teaching in the Maldives. Matt enjoyed the long days, the green truck and eating with chopsticks :) Brit enjoyed lifting tanks, studying hard on physics and getting her stick of authority :) The new PADI Divemasters enjoyed around two weeks with Diverse Borneo and amongst all the intensive training they had to complete were set some goals, Brit had to be able to lift two scuba tanks at once, she finally got muscles :) and Matt had to eat his noodles properly with chopsticks. There was plenty of experience helping them out...

Everything Is Possible

Diverse Borneo Family

Diverse Borneo - PADI Five Star Instructor Development Center hasn't had a day off this year because we had so much fun certifying new students for PADI Open Water Diver Course and PADI Advanced Open Water Diver. Diverse Borneo team also had fun with Refresher Courses and Fun Diving in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park. This week we welcomed Mr. Jerfaas Van De Water (Jeff) and Ms. Gwendolina Clasina Bakker (Wendy) of the Netherlands, who first came into our shop and asked whether it is possible to do a PADI Referral Course with us. Of course we said YES, because as a PADI Five Star Instructor Development Center, Everything Is Possible and nothing is impossible. Jeff and Wendy completed the PADI Open Water modules 1 – 5 and their confined water pool training with another dive operator Rainbow Divers, Vietnam. Unfortunately they did not have the time to complete the course by which they traveled over S.E.Asia looking for a Scuba Diving center that could help them out. ...

Hi Readers, greetings from Diverse Borneo - A PADI Five Star Instructor Development Center. We have been very busy over this last month, bringing new faces to the dive team, certifying lots of new scuba divers from PADI Open Water Diver Course to PADI Professional Courses. We have started the year working towards improving the standard we set last year. Our office crew just got bigger with Mr. Alban joining us from X-plorer backpackers, and Ian Edwards in the dive team - A PADI Master Instructor with over 18 years teaching experience. On the 17th January 2011 we got good news from PADI that our application for PADI Five Star Instructor Development Center was accepted. The Diverse Borneo team are very happy with this achievement and will continue to provide an excellent service to all our diving buddies and new clientele. We will be running our first IDC this year, with dates sure to follow. Diverse Borneo would like to shout out a big CONGRATULATIONS to the l...

Diver Fun

Diverse Borneo Family

It was another public holiday in Malaysia and I was able to get wet diving in Kota Kinabalu with a few of my friends. Divers of the day were Mr. Simon, Mr. Lo, Mr. Kikuchi of Japan, Mr. Nguang, Ms. Siew Lian and Mr. Billy from Australia who is taking his Open Water license. Mr. Joe Le of Australia taking his PADI Divemster course, with Instructor Halid, myself, Liasan, and Syid. We completed three dives which were, Agill reef, Edgell Patches and coral garden, all of which are reasonably comfortable dive sites. It rained quite heavily in the morning which enabled us to wear our diving masks for the boat ride and enjoy the cool clean air of Tunku Abdul Rahman Park. We ended up at Sapi island, dropped off Mr. Billy and went out for the first dive, I think everyone just wanted their surface interval coffee with all the rain pouring. We still managed to get underwater to see some Lion fish, Nemo, cleaner shrimps, blue spotted sting rays, and sweetlips. Below is the shor...
