Underwater Cleanup
Great day out in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park collecting the trash from the reefs that is destroying our second homes. The day starting at Sutera Harbour with Joanne of Borneo Dream ( the cleanup co-coordinator ) giving the days briefing and getting the big group ready by splitting up on different boats. There was five boats that parted and Diverse Borneo kindly donated a boat, tanks and mares diving equipment for the day. We had eight divers for the cleanup along with the boatman, dive guide and myself. We headed to coral garden dive site of Sapi Island where we made two scuba dives picking up the trash. Various things found was a mini cooper toy car, not missing out on the fishing lines, diapers and bottles all which were making a messy scene for the marine life to grow. After two dives we heading to Mamutik island where all the boats gathered and counted the trash collecting an amazing 129kg of marine debris - this included 60kg of plastic bags (that's a lot ...
