About Borneo Experience

When you think of Borneo, you immediately recognize, Orangutan's, jungle, trekking, river cruises, islands, adventure, and this eight day trip gives you an experience of a life time. Starting from Kota Kinabalu and ending at Sandakan along the way giving you breath taking views of the most popular attractions.

Borneo the third largest island in the world is made up by three countries, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei. The Malaysian section of Borneo has a population of around four million people. Kota Kinabalu known as the capital of Borneo makes up almost one quarter of the entire population. The federal government of Malaysia officially recognizes 28 ethnic groups in Sabah with the Kadazan-Dusun being the largest.

A licensed tour guide will show you along the journey of Borneo making sure you are hassle free on your holiday.

Duration

The Borneo Experience trip lasts for seven days starting in Kota Kinabalu on the eve before the first day and ending at Sandakan in the evening of the seventh day.

Eve Before Day One

Check into Kinabalu Daya hotel at Kota Kinabalu (BKI) after 12pm. Meet in the lobby for 6.30pm meet and greet your guide and other members of the trip. Dinner with group.

Day One

Snorkeling trip at Tunku Abdul Rahman Park with two islands great to relax after a long flight. Enjoy Snorkeling or simply sunbathing in 30 degrees celsius. Arrive back to Kota Kinabalu at early evening for free and easy around Kota Kinabalu city. Overnight at Kinabalu Daya hotel.

Day Two and Three

Mount Kinabalu Climbing experience for two days, one night. click for more information. After reaching the bottom, proceed to the poring hot springs and check into hotel and experience the local foot reflexology.

Day Four

Relax at poring hot springs in the bath tubs and enjoy the canopy walks. Proceed to Sandakan town and overnight at Hotel Sandakan.

Day Five to Six

Visit the biggest Orangutan sanctuary in the world in the morning and then enter kinabatangan river for three days and two nights. Best known for sightings of the proboscis monkeys and orangutans, Asian elephants and Sumatran rhinoceros. The area is also known for its great variety of bird life. Including accommodation in lodges, all meals, river cruises, and guided trekking.

Day Seven

On checking out of kinabatangan river, proceed to Sandakan town for city tour with visits to the Puh Jih Sih Chinese temple, located 300 meters above sea level. After lunch visit the Sim Sim Water Village where you can see houses on stilts occupied by the Malay and Chinese people. Check back in to Hotel Sandakan, and have the farewell ceremony and dinner at local restaurant.

  • You will be travelling to Borneo. Please check with your local doctor about any medication needed. Malaria is known in Borneo and you should take precautions.
