About PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

The Advanced Open Water Course allows PADI Open Water Diver Course students (PADI certified or equivalent from another diving organization) to enroll and get certified, explore reefs to depths of 30 meters. This course consists of five scuba dives, two of dives must be the first dive of the PADI Deep Diver Course and Underwater Navigator Course. Three more dives are chosen to suit both the diver and the current diving conditions.

Dives can be chosen from the PADI Specialty Dive Courses first dives, AWARE-fish identification, boat diving, PADI deep diver, diver propulsion vehicle, Multilevel Diver Course, PADI Night Diver Course, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Search And Recovery Course, underwater Digital photography course, underwater naturalist, underwater videography, and PADI Wreck Diver.

Schedule

Day One
  • Prior to scuba diving, all knowledge development to be completed and reviewed by the instructor
  • 8.30am - Arrive at the jessleton point jetty
  • 9.00am – After reaching island, gear assembly, and briefing for adventure dive one
  • 11.00am - Adventure dive two
  • 12.00pm - Hot Lunch at the island restaurant
  • 2.00pm - Adventure dive three
  • 3.30pm - Arrive back at jessleton point jetty
Day One (Night Dive Option)
  • Prior to scuba diving, all knowledge development to be completed and reviewed by the instructor
  • 2.30pm - Arrive at the jessleton point jetty
  • 3.00pm – After reaching island, gear assembly, and briefing for adventure dive one
  • 5.00pm - Adventure dive two
  • 6.00pm - Dinner at the island
  • 7.30pm - Adventure dive three (night dive)
  • 9.00pm - Arrive back at jessleton point jetty and proceed with certification
Day Two
  • 8.30am - Arrive at the jessleton point jetty
  • 9.00am – After reaching island, gear assembly, and briefing for adventure dive four
  • 11.00am - Adventure dive five
  • 12.00pm - Hot Lunch at the island restaurant
  • 2.00pm - Certification at island and relax at beach
  • 3.30pm - Arrive back at jessleton point jetty
Duration

The Course will be conducted over two days, with three dives on the first day, and two on the second day. Padi Advanced Open Water Diver Course consists of Knowledge Development and Open water diver training. Knowledge development will be completed from the Advanced Manual from the dives chosen, whilst the training of the necessary skills will be conducted in Open Water.

Pre Requisites

PADI Advanced Open Water divers need to be:
  • Certified as a PADI Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization)
  • At least 15 years old or 12 years for Junior Advanced Open Water Diver
  • You must also be physically fit.

PADI Specialty Diver Courses

Credit for Specialty Courses

Each Adventure Dive in the Padi Advanced Open Water Diver course that is completed may be credited towards the first dive of the corresponding PADI Specialty Dive Courses.
