Description

The Emergency First Response Course - Creating Confidence to Care™, focuses on building confidence in lay rescuers and increasing their willingness to respond when faced with a medical emergency. Course participants learn simple to follow steps for emergency care and practice applying skills in a non-stressful learning environment. All courses are supported by self-study manuals, videos and quick reference cards to enhance learning and allow you start learning right away. Whether you are a parent, school teacher, a builder in the construction industry or self employed, you may find yourself in a situation where you need to provide emergency care for someone that you happen to see have an accident.

In today’s work environment, occupational health and safety regulations in most countries require staff to be proficient in CPR and have first aid skills. Gaining these skills needs to fit into our busy schedules. Emergency First Response’s flexible approach to learning makes our programs the first and best choice.

Emergency First Response courses follow the latest emergency patient care standards as published in the American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care and the Basic Life Support (BLS) group of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) and follows the life line of ABCABS.

Although many divers enrol in this programme, so that they can take the PADI Rescue Diver course, this course gives you the confidence to respond to medical emergencies and is also equally useful for outside the diving industry.

During this course you will learn about the primary and secondary care of a patient’s life line. BLS (Basic Life Support) CPR and rescue breathing at the layperson level, preventing and caring for shock, spinal injury management, use of barriers to reduce disease transmission risk, basic first aid and first aid kit considerations. EFR follows the ABCABS protocol.
