Salt Trail Kota Kinabalu Sabah Jungle Trekking is a 5D4N trip covering a distance of 34KM over the Crocker Range National Park starting from Kg Tikolod and ending at Kg. Inobong, Penampang. The Crocker Range is approximately 88KM from Kota Kinabalu city centre. The Crocker Range National Park was renamed to Taman Banjaran Crocker (Crocker Range Park) in 1996 and it is now managed by Sabah Parks who also manages Mount Kinabalu climb and the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park. The Salt Trail is actually 34km long and it was originally used by the local people of Tambunan in the olden days for trading. The local people around the area use to exchange their produce for salt. Hence, it is called ‘ The Salt Trail ’.

SALT TRAIL KOTA KINABALU SABAH

Salt Trail Kota Kinabalu Sabah 5D4N package tour starts from Kg Tikolod some 88KM away from Kota Kinabalu and heads towards Tambunan before ending at Kg Inobong, Penampang. During the trek the highest peak is at 1,320m and the lowest is at 220m above sea level. The Salt Trail itself is a rugged track involving trekking through primary jungle and crossing many rivers some being chest height.

Whilst trekking on the the Salt Trail Kota Kinabalu Sabah there could be many opportunities to find bizarre and wonderful species of
birds, insects, mammals, amphibians, and reptiles.There is a chance to see the Orang-Utan, Long Tailed Macaque and Clouded Leopard but your more likely to see these during our Kinabatangan tour.

There are several local villages spread all over the crocker range area, mainly people from the Dusun tribes and with this 5D4N jungle trek expedition it includes overnight sleepovers in real local village accommodation with the chance to sample the wonderful local food. Anyone that joins in on the Salt Trail Kota Kinabalu Sabah trek will get the chance to take many pictures and experience a whole new level of jungle trekking.

SCHEDULE

Day One – Kota Kinabalu to Kg. Tikolod, Molungung Camp

  • At 10:00am depart from Kota Kinabalu to Kg Tikolod (approximately 2 hours)
  • Arrive at Molungung Camp, welcome briefing & introduction to guides and each other

Day Two – Molunging to Kg. Kionop

  • Breakfast
  • Prepare for trekking
  • Trek to Kg. Kionop (6 to 8 hours trekking time)

  • Night walk
  • Overnight stay at Kg. Kionop Church

Day Three – Kg. Kionop to Kg. Buayan

  • Breakfast
