As a PADI professional Divemaster or equivalent from a different scuba diving agency you have already mastered the knowledge, skills and attitude of becoming a great mentor. The PADI IDC in Kota Kinabalu will develop the experience you have gained by introducing the skills needed to become an effective and quality PADI scuba instructor.
WHY KOTA KINABALU?
Kota Kinabalu is one of the best places in the world to learn your PADI Instructor Course as the PADI Course Director training course is in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, Kota Kinabalu. The PADI Course Director Training Course is only held two times per year and accepts less than 40 candidates per time, whereas PADI certify annually one million divers. The islands are only 10 minutes by boat from Kota Kinabalu which offers great places to stay, food and drinks 🙂 Mount Kinabalu, the highest peak in Asia is seen from confined open water.
WHO WILL TEACH YOU?
Mark Hedger, the only active full time teaching PADI Course Director in Kota Kinabalu. Former youngest PADI Course Director in Malaysia and once was one of the youngest in the world, PADI Asia Pacific Award winner for ‘The Young Achiever in Diving Award’ 2006, more than 7,000 logged dives and a 100% record of first time success at the IE. PADI Instructor Course DURATION
The PADI Instructor Course (IDC) itself runs for just ten days. We offer a two day preparation course, then the two day Emergency First Response Instructor course, and ten days IDC. The PADI Instructor Examination is two days at Kota Kinabalu and Semporna. The PADI IE in Kota Kinabalu is generally falls on February, May/June, September and November, but please inquire for exact dates for this year.
THE PREP COURSE
Two days of theory review covering, open water, advanced, EFR, rescue, and Divemaster knowledge development. Water skills workshops, including skill demonstration, ascent and descent workshop, knot-tying and more.
EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONSE (EFR) INSTRUCTOR COURSE
Two days of EFR And CFC Instructor learning techniques for training CPR and first aid. This is required to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
PADI INSTRUCTOR COURSE (IDC)
The PADI Instructor Course is in two parts, the Assistant Instructor and Open Water Scuba Instructor section. You must complete both sections to participate in the PADI Instructor Examination. You will learn how to teach knowledge development, confined and open water teaching presentations, PADI Dive Courses standards, risk management, business of diving, marketing diving and more. Diverse Borneo PADI Instructor Course will begin in the comfort of your own home starting with IDC online, meaning that you would have completed nine (9) sections of the course before meeting our PADI Course Director gifting you with more quality time in the water and not in the classroom.
INSTRUCTOR EXAMINATION (IE)

Want to ensure you are fully prepared? Then join us earlier up to four (4) weeks before the IDC begins. We will only charge an additional RM2,120.00. You will be able to dive everyday up to 3 dives a day, assist on real life PADI Diving Courses and get hands on tips and techniques from the Diverse Borneo team.
ACCOMMODATION & FOOD
You can stay for as little as US$5.00 per night and eat for US$2.00 per meal. We can help out by prearranging the accommodation for you.
