The AWARE Coral Reef Conservation Specialty course is designed to inform you about the world’s coral reefs. As a scuba diver, the health of aquatic ecosystems is often what makes a good dive. Become aware of the coral reefs and how you can help preserve them. During this course you will have an introduction to Project AWARE, learn the importance of coral reefs to marine ecosystems and coastal areas, coral reef and reef inhabitant biology, association and competition, the status of the world's coral reefs and detrimental land-based and ocean-based activities that put reefs in peril, and suggestions and information about actions that may help to protect reefs, including responsible diving and snorkelling practices.
